Vivian Inez Carmichael Stephenson Hatcher, a resident of Dothan, died Friday, March 22, 2013 at her home. She was 93.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roger Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Dothan City Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30-2:30 Sunday prior to service time.

Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302.

Mrs. Hatcher was born September 3, 1919 in Dothan to David and Eva Carmichael.  She attended Dothan City Schools and graduated from Dothan High School in 1937.  She was a member of Headland Avenue Baptist Church and attended there until Heritage Baptist Church was established in 1974 where she became a charter member. She later joined Pinckard Baptist Church. Mrs. Hatcher loved quilting, sewing, cooking and raising her grandchildren.

Mrs. Hatcher is predeceased by her parents, Eva and David Carmichael; her husbands, Andrew Allen Stephenson and Col. H. B. Hatcher; a daughter, Anne Tyson Childers and a granddaughter, Alicia Childers.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Stephanie Turner (Robbie Graddy) of Troy and Dothan, John Tyson (Bridget) of Taylor; five great-grandchildren, Tyler Allen Turner, Gabby Nicole Tyson, J.J.  Tyson, Desiray Myracle and Dezmond Myracle; a very special great-granddaughter, Annabelle Turner; two step-children, Mark Hatcher (Alice) and Mary Hatcher; nieces and nephews, Debbie Norris, David Carmichael, Dawn Hogan and Gloria Miller; a very special nephew and niece, Bob and Cathy Carmichael; a very special caregiver, Frances Burton who was truly a gift from God.
