Obituary:  J L “Bo” Smith


              Mr. J L “Bo” Smith left his earthly home in New Brockton to join the Heavenly choir on Friday, February 28, 2014.  He was 74. 


             Funeral services will be at 2:00 Sunday, March 2 at the Chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory in Enterprise with Reverend Roy Turner and Reverend Donnie Earls officiating.  Burial will follow in Richburg Cemetery in New Brockton.  The family will receive friends at Vanderbilt Holiness Church Saturday from 4:00 until 7:00.


             In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family c/o Mrs. Merle Smith, P.O. Box 222, New Brockton, AL 36351.


             Mr. Smith was born September 24, 1939 to the late Jesse and Ruby Hundley Smith.  He was a lifelong resident of Coffee County and retired after more than 30 years of employment at Dorsey Trailers.  He was a deacon at Vanderbilt Holiness Church.


             He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Erma Pittman, Corena Blackmon, Jeanette Simmons, and Lell Tindol; and his brothers: Marvin V. Smith, Billy Smith, and Travis Smith.


             Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Willie “Merle” Smith of New Brockton; his children: Tim Smith of Phenix City, Donna McLendon (Dale) of Enterprise, Bobby Smith (Symantha) of Troy, Scotty Smith of New Brockton, and Catrina Arnold (Joey) of Jack; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his sisters: Earline Laytart of Enterprise, and Sarah Parrish of Phenix City; his brothers: Trenton Smith of New Brockton and Ladon Smith of Elba; and a host of family and friends.


             The family extends their thanks to Gentiva Hospice for their wonderful care, with a special thank you going to nurses Sherry Johnson and Kim Tanner.
