DOTHAN. . .J  W  Brown, a resident of Dothan, died Monday morning, June 17, 2013, in a Dothan hospital. He was 74.


            Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 19, 2013, in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan, with Reverend Ricky Plummer and Reverend Wallace Russell officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Headland.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 3257 East Cottonwood Road, Dothan, AL 36301.


            Mr. Brown was born and reared in the New Prospect Community of Henry County, son of the late Martin Brown and Julene Adkinson Brown. He lived in Atlanta before moving to Dothan in 2001. Mr. Brown was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and also the Claybank Masonic Lodge No. 908 in Ozark. He retired as a Service Technician with Team Ford in Atlanta. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by two sons, Ellis Holloway and Jeffrey Holloway.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Marie Shelton Brown, Dothan; two daughters, Cathy Brown Jackson and husband, Kenny, Cottonwood; Debra Holloway McGough, Manchester, GA; two sons, Maurice Brown and wife, Felecia Sowell Brown, and Tony Brown and wife, Brenda Thomas Brown, all of Dothan; nine grandchildren, David Brown (Blair), Andrew Brown, Brittany Ezell (Josh), Kellie Brown, Jeffery Jackson (Becky), Hope Sewell (Keith), Chris Jones, Brandon Holloway (Christy), and Darren Wayne Holloway; fifteen great-grandchildren.
