JACK  M.  BLANKENSHIP


ABBEVILLE. . .Jack M. Blankenship, a resident of Abbeville, died early Sunday afternoon, May 11, 2014, in the Ft. Gaines Health & Rehabilitation. He was 77.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 13, 2014, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Brother Ronnie Benefield and Reverend George Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in the Edwin Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary in Abbeville.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Edwin Cemetery Fund, c/o Larry Ryals, 302 Oak Drive, Abbeville, AL 36310.


            Mr. Blankenship was born and reared in Henry County, near Clopton, son of the late Fred Blankenship and Jewell Price Blankenship. He lived in the Abbeville area all his adult lifetime. Mr. Blankenship served his country in the U. S. Army and also in the Army Reserve and Army National Guard. He was a member of the Friendly Assembly of God Church, near Texasville. Mr. Blankenship was formerly employed as a diesel mechanic for several logging companies. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Judy Shelley, and Annette Rogers, and a brother, James Fred Blankenship.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Martha Turner Blankenship, Abbeville; three daughters, Ann Turner (Tal), Donalsonville, GA; Helen Furby (Gary), and Becky Bileau (Bob), all of Abbeville; a son, Merlyn Blankenship (Trisha), Abbeville; a sister, Martha McCraney (Joe), Louisville, AL; three brothers, Billy Blankenship (Sheila), Abbeville; Bud Blankenship (Barbara), Sneads, FL; and Pee Wee Blankenship (Sue), Abbeville; eight grandchildren, Leslie Hudspeth (Jason), Dwayne Furby (Lamanda), Nina Senn (Tommy), Will Vinson (Nicole), Heather Rhoades (Joey), Hunter Blankenship, Skylar Blankenship, and Dale Furby; ten great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
