LYONS, GEORGIA…Jackie Williams Creel, a resident of Lyons, Georgia, formerly of Columbia, Alabama, died Sunday morning, June 8, 2014. She was 70.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. (CDT) Wednesday, June 11, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel, Headland, Alabama, with Reverend Josh Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the mortuary in Headland. At other times, the family will be at the home of Ronnie and Sue Williams, 1434 Ed Tolar Road, Pansey.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to The Oaks Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 388, Lyons, Georgia, 30436.


            Mrs. Creel, daughter of the late Perry Koonce Williams and Evie Mae Bryan Williams, was a native of Columbia, Alabama. She was a 1961 graduate of Houston County High School and attended Brewton-Parker College in Mt. Vernon, Georgia. Mrs. Creel formerly lived in Malvern, Alabama, Sebring, Florida, Slocomb, Alabama, and Phenix City, AL before moving to Lyons, Georgia in 2007. She was formerly employed as church secretary at The Oaks Baptist Church in Lyons, Georgia where she was a member.  Mrs. Creel was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Donald Floyd Creel, a son, Donald Lamar Creel, a sister, Marjorie Christensen, three brothers, Gordon Williams, Bryant Williams, and Max Williams.


            Surviving relatives include her daughter, Monette Copeland and husband, Darrell,  Lyons, GA; a sister, Evelette McCorkle, of Donalsonville, GA; a brother, Jerome Williams and wife, Cheryl, of Picayune, MS; a granddaughter, Ashley Mock (Ronnie); two Great-Grandchildren, Aryana and Zayne Mock; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Norma Ernest, special nephews, Herman Spooner, Ronald Williams, Donald Williams, and Dwaine Williams; and a special canine friend, “Boots”


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Ty Williams, Dwaine Williams, Cameron Creel, Josh Sims, Perry Brown, David Burdeshaw and Josh McKenzie.
