            Mr. James Edward Carr passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 in the William F. Green State Veteran’s Home in Bay Minette, AL.  He was 81.


            Memorial services with full military honors will be at 2 pm Thursday, February 28, 2013 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory. 


            Mr. Carr was born July 29, 1931 in Cameron, WV to the late Edwin and Icie Teagarden Carr.  He was retired from the US Army.  He served two tours in Vietnam and in the Korean War and received a Bronze Star Medal.  After retiring from the military, he instructed ROTC in Greensboro, FL.  He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed playing golf and gardening.   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wesley Carr; 3 sisters: Mary Abromowitz, Leona Carr, Iona Blake; and a great-grandson, Matthew Bailey.


            Survivors include his wife, Hilda Carr, Dothan; 1 daughter, Sheila Lemaire (James), St. Martinville, LA; 1 son, Tony Holmes (Vanessa), Enterprise; 1 sister, Relda Wright, Cameron, WV; 6 grandchildren: Sonya Nichols, Jason Holmes, Staci Lamb, Jayla Foster, Jeremiah Foster, Josh Foster; 3 great-grandchildren: Jordyn Hallford, Bradley Hallford, Charity Bailey; 1 great-great-grandson, Cameron Hallford; numerous nieces and nephews.
