Mr. James Edward “Duke” Harrison of River Road, Samson, Alabama passed away suddenly Tuesday, January 27, 2015.  He was 68.


A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2015, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral in Geneva with Rev. Eddie Gossett officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday and continue until service time.


Mr. Harrison was born October 20, 1946, in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Marvie Dee and Catherine Callie Marshall Harrison. He was a veteran of U.S. Army. After more than 25 years of service he retired from Ft. Rucker as an aircraft mechanic.  His favorite pastime was fishing and hunting.  He was a very loving and devoted father, grandfather and brother.


In addition to his parents, the mother of his children, Sandra Harrison Beagles, preceded him in death.


Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Melissa Elmore; one son, Michael James Harrison, both of Samson; three grandchildren: Haylee Jordan Elmore of Samson, Alexis Danielle and Destinee Paige Harrison both of Kinston; one sister, Shirley (Thomas) Rowell of Samson; two nieces: Susan Rowell of Samson and Kim (Marvin) Smith of Ozark; his two special canine friends: Little Man and Pretty Girl; other extended family and close friends.
