DOTHAN. . .James Charles (J. C.) Robinson, a resident of Dothan, died late Friday afternoon, July 29, 2011, at his home. He was 84.


            Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, August 1, 2011, in the Bay Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Elder Marcus Petty officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.


            J. C. Robinson was born and reared in the Bay Springs community of Houston County, son of the late Clifford Robinson and Jewel Skinner Robinson. He lived in Dothan most of his lifetime and had also formerly lived Troy and Atlanta. J.C. was a graduate of Wicksburg High School. He began his fifty-nine year career in floral designing in Dothan. J.C. was later employed by Flowers By Mary and owned and operated Cherokee Florist in Dothan. J. C. had a passion for floral design and knew since the third grade that this was the career for him. He always said that the death of his sister and mother reinforced his dream to be a florist.  He was of the opinion that flowers help in the time of sorrow and always said “if it doesn’t look right to you, then it doesn’t look right to other people”. J.C. was preceded in death his wives, Faye Roney Robinson and Mamie Hamm Robinson, two sisters, Helen Graves and Jean Robinson, a brother, James Earl Robinson.


            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Jewel Ann Cole and husband, Ernie, Dothan; Ms. Billie Nell Robinson, England; two sons, David Sherrill Robinson and wife, Lynn, Austin, TX; Douglas J. Robinson and wife, Kay, Lawrenceville, GA; a step-son, Danny Clark and wife, Terri, Dothan; two sisters, Martha McDonald and Irene Culbasach, both of Flint, Michigan; a sister-in-law, Willa Dean Robinson, Hartford; four grandchildren, Elisha Smith Dozier and husband, Tim, Kim Phillips and husband, Tracy, Greg Cole and wife, Jessica, Angie Anderson and husband, Josh; step-grandchildren, Marissa Sutton, Miranda Borders; three great-grandchildren, Daniel Phillips, Noah Phillips and Scott Cole; step-great-grandchildren, Emalee Anderson and Zak Anderson; several nieces and nephews.
