James Ray White, a lifelong resident of Dothan, died Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center following a brief illness. He was 64.


 


Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Michael Douglas officiating.  Burial will follow in Selma Baptist Church Cemetery with Kendall Glover of Glover Funeral Home directing.  Visitation will be held Monday, November 19, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 at Glover Funeral Home.


 


Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to a charity of choice.


 


Mr. White was born August 6, 1948 in Houston County, the son of the late Charles Ray and Flora Foyfette Trimnel White.  He graduated from Rehobeth High School in 1966 and later was employed with United Distributing Company where he worked for thirty years.  Mr. White enjoyed bowling for many years and served as past president of Dothan Bowling Association.  He was a member of Dothan Bowling Association Hall of Fame.  He was also an avid Alabama and Atlanta Braves fan.  He loved his family especially his grandchildren.  Mr. White was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church.


 


In addition to his parents, Mr. White was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Lewis White.


 


Survivors include his wife of forty-six years, Beckie Whiddon White, Dothan; daughter, Jayme Bedsole, Dothan; son, Brad White (Jodi), Enterprise, AL; three sisters, Mary Covington (Sam), Sharon White, both of Newton, AL, Wanda Pendley (Vic), Hendersonville, NC; a brother, Danny White (Kathy), Dothan; two grandsons, Adam White, Jacob Hansen, both of Dothan; granddaughter, Anna-Leigh White, Dothan; step granddaughter, Melissa Cowart (Chris), Hawaii; step grandson, Ryan Standish, Enterprise, AL.


Active pallbearers will be: Jerome Skipper, Chris Hale, Chris Blakey, Alan Monday, Richard Tillary and Darryl Loftis.
