ABBEVILLE. . .James Thomas Chambers, a resident of Abbeville, died early Monday morning, February 15, 2016, in a Dothan hospital. He was 74.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 17, 2016, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Kenneth Preston officiating. Burial will follow in the Shorterville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Abbeville.


            Mr. Chambers was born February 15, 1942, and was reared near Haleburg, son of the late James Lamar Chambers and Ossie Mae Roberson Chambers. He lived in Abbeville all his adult lifetime. Mr. Chambers was retired from Champion Wood Products and formerly worked for Farmer’s Milling & Marketing Company. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Chambers and a daughter, Mary Hall Kelley.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Cathy Chambers; four daughters, MaLinda Golden (Mike); Kim Money (Marvin Brooks), Kari Spivey (Ronnie), all of Abbeville; and Ashlie Chambers (Dwayne Miles), Mobile; a very special daughter-in-law, Melissa Chambers Bennett (Mike), Adel, GA; three sons, LaDon Chambers (Christi), Shorterville; Bobby Hall, Abbeville; and Dwayne Lott (Priscilla Powell), Banks, AL; two sisters, Nancy Byle (Rick), and Ila Blair (David), all of Shorterville; grandchildren, Bridget Macolly, Michael Golden, Blake Trawick, Olivia Long, David Hall, John Tice, Kristina White, Joseph Cook, Kaitlyn Spivey, K.C. Warren, Cameron, Michael and T.J.; Brittany Killingsworth, Savannah Johnson, Noah Chambers, James Lott, Elizabeth Lott, and Makayla Chambers; several great-grandchildren.


Serving as active pallbearers will be Ronnie Spivey, Marvin Brooks, Will Maddox, James Larry Falkner, Jesse Warren and Tyson Scott.


            The family would like to express their appreciation to Marvin Brooks for his assistance and help given to the Chambers family.
