James Thomas Grubbs, 44, of Midland City passed away Thursday June 12, 2014 at Flowers Hospital.


Funeral services will be held 1 pm Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. W.F. Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 12 noon until service time.


Mr. Grubbs was born May 4, 1970 in Houston County and lived the early part of his life in Pinckard, AL. He attended Heard Elementary School and was a 1988 graduate of Dale County high School. He was employed in construction for the past several years. He was very interested in writing and was enrolled in several writing courses in the past. Mr. Grubbs was a member at Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist church where he was active with the youth choir and faithfully attended the New Era #2 Sunday School and the BTU Congress until the age of 16.


Survivors include his aunt and adoptive mother Prentice Campbell; his mother Blondell Davis; his grandmother Louise Davis; brothers, Chris (Rebecca) Grubbs, Craig Grubbs, Douglas (Renee) Grubbs, Ben (Shinita) Jackson, Phillip Jackson, and Eric (Niece) Jackson; a sister Phyllis Jackson; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
