Janice (Glover) McKnight, age 78, from Dothan went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 following a courageous battle with Stage IV Breast Cancer.

Janice was born in Pinckard, Alabama on October 4, 1935 to William Stafford Glover and Claudie (Peters) Glover.  She attended Pinckard Elementary and Midland City High School.

Janice’s life revolved around her very large family.  She was the most loving, genuine person that you could ever hope to meet.  She was the most wonderful, compassionate mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.  She touched many lives with her kind smile and loving disposition.  To meet her was to truly love her.  She never met a stranger and made every person around her feel very special.   Janice had a God-given passion for the less fortunate and anyone that was in need.  God used her through her battle with cancer to touch and inspire other cancer patients to never give up, be positive, and “put it in God’s hands.”

Janice was a dental technician with Harper Dental Lab for 24 years.  She worked at Travel Lodge/Baywood Inn & Suites for many years.  Most of all, she loved working at Formally Yours with her dear friends, Pam Keeble and Tasha Harger.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley “Dock” McKnight; her parents William Stafford and Claudie (Peters) Glover; step-mother Helen Glover; her brother Roger Glover.

Janice is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Eddie) Arnold; Dorinda (John) Bowen; Sandy McKnight; Grandchildren: Jamie Arnold Crance; Sydney Arnold; Landon (Zana) Arnold; Georgia Bowen; Whitney Bowen; Great-grandchildren: Hampton and Baylen Crance; Jamin and Malachi Toliver; Brother Gwen (Grace) Glover; Randall (Sybil) Glover; Reg (Debbie) Glover; Sisters: Doris (Wayne) Maddox; Glenda (Marvin) Wheeless; Claudia (Wesley) Strickland; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and a dear family friend Sandra Quattlebaum.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Ward Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home from 5-7 P.M.  A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, May 16, 2014 at Ward Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery at 10:30 A.M.  Burial will follow.  At other times, the family will be at the home of John and Dorinda Bowen, 1500 Haisten Drive, Dothan, Alabama.  Flowers or contributions to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or the American Cancer Society will be accepted.

Special thanks to Alacare Home Health and Hospice.

Pallbearers will include; Landon Arnold; Hampton Crance; Jason Strickland; Slade Glover; Jarrad Glover; Jonathan Wheeless; Erik Vogt; Dusty Downs.
