JEAN  SALLAS KING

ASHFORD. . .Jean Sallas King, a resident of Ashford, died Sunday night, May 24, 2015, in the Extendicare Health & Rehabilitation Center in Dothan. She was 87.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 27, 2015, in the Cedar Springs Baptist Church, near Ashford, with Reverend Homer Davis, Jr. and Reverend William Irwin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.

            Memorial contributions may be made to the Cedar Springs Baptist Church, c/o John W. King, 974 Jack Bruner Road, Ashford, AL 36312.

            Mrs. King was born and reared in Houston County, daughter of the late Hurbert Sallas and Alma Dixon Sallas. She lived all her adult lifetime in the Cedar Springs community, near Ashford. Mrs. King was a member of the Cedar Springs Baptist Church and participated in the Ashford Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Willard King, Sr., a son, Steve King, a son-in-law, Ronald McArdle, a granddaughter, Carol McArdle, two sisters, and five brothers.

            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Shirley King McArdle, a son, John W. King, Jr. (Jacqueline), all of Ashford; a daughter-in-law, Gloria King, Dothan; two brothers, Arthur Sallas, Ashford; Harold Sallas (Jean), Lake Seminole; a sister-in-law, Lois Sallas, Dothan; six grandchildren, Brad King (Kelly), Tyler King, Kristen King Lucus (Brannon), Adam King (Alana), Clay McArdle (Michelle), and Cole McArdle (Tambria); eleven great-grandchildren.
