Jean Sharon Orlowski
Jean Sharon Orlowski, of Dothan, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Wiregrass Medical Center. She was 73.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charles Goldsmith officiating and Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends in the reception room at Byrd Funeral Home immediately following the service.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 1001 S Bell St, Dothan, AL 36301.
Jean was born October 6, 1942 in Duluth, Minnesota and lived the early years of her life there. She graduated from Densfeld High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from University of Minnesota, Duluth with a degree in elementary education. She moved to Dothan in 1978 and later received her Master’s degree from Troy University Dothan. Jean was a teacher with the Dothan City School System for 19 years and taught at Montana Street Elementary School for 18 of those years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sherman and Ethel Olsen, and her sister, Gerri Jensrud.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Orlowski; her daughter, Christine Gibbons and her husband, James R.; and grandsons, James T. Gibbons and Jonathan Gibbons.
