ASHFORD…Jeanette Granberry Deese, a resident of Ashford, died early Wednesday morning, December 10, 2014, at her home. She was 88.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 11, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Bill Hand officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashford City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary in Headland.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rockbridge Road, Dothan, Alabama 36303.


            Mrs. Deese was born and reared in the Hebron Community of Henry County, daughter of the late Thomas Whit Granberry and Mary Etta Burnham Granberry. She moved to Ashford in 1960. In earlier years, Mrs. Deese was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Ashford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Edsel Deese, four sisters, Elmira Brannon, Dorothy Jones, Virginia Heath and Evelyn Whatley, two brothers, Arlis Granberry and Hiram Granberry, and a special sister-in-law, Daphne Deese.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Sue Ann Lulling (Rick), Dothan; a son, Mark Deese (Sue Anne), Ashford; two brothers, George Granberry, Headland; Herman Granberry (Mary Ann), Ozark; five grandchildren, Whitney Green (Hunter), Emily Ziegenfelder (Brandon), Parker Deese, Madison Nowell, and Seth Nowell; a great grandchild, Carter Deese; numerous nieces and nephews.
