Jerry Gilley of Hartford passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013 in Flowers Hospital. He was 76.

Funeral services will be held at 10am Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Shiloh Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Pondtown Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Jimmy Bottoms of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Shiloh Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Shiloh Baptist Church Building Fund or to Pondtown Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.

Jerry was a life-long resident of Hartford. A devoted husband of forty-two years. A loving father, grandfather, and brother. Above all, Jerry was an exemplary Christian man. He was the backbone of a strong family with deep Christian roots and he left behind a legacy of grace, tenderness, and gentle, pure love. He will be greatly missed and forever celebrated.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ashley Herman Gilley and Docia Gilley; five sisters and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Gilley; four children, Sandy (Roy) Gilley, Darren Batchelor, Aimee Gilley Pybus , and Nicole (Anderson) Fulford; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn (Earl) Peterson; one brother-in-law Jimmy (Evelyn) Strickland; one sister-in-law, Virginia Johnson.
