Mr. Jerry Lynn Gilmore of Samson, AL passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017 at his home.  He was 82. 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with the Rev. Dale Morgan officiating.

Burial will follow in the Travelers Rest Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continue until service time.

Mr. Gilmore was born in Geneva County, AL on November 29, 1934 to the late Benjamin Jessie and Ola Elizabeth Sellers Gilmore.  He was a faithful member of the Samson First Baptist Church.  He was an avid gardener loving his vegetables.  He enjoyed being “Paw Paw” and “Pa” to a collection of kids and grandkids he loved dearly. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by, one daughter Debra D. Bryan, three sisters; Lucille Messer, Lorene Williams and Louise Worthington, two brothers; B.J. Gilmore and William Sellers “Bill” Gilmore.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Baptist Ministries of your choice. 

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty Sue Mahan Gilmore, Samson, AL, three daughters; Sherry Gilmore Crews (Dr. Dwight L.), Geneva, AL, Lisa Gilmore Rzoska (Jeff) Goose Creek, SC, Shelly Gilmore, Elba, AL.  Eight Grandchildren; Steve Stowe (Samantha), Dallas, TX, Brandy Holland, Samson, AL, Trae Crews (Rebecca), Geneva, AL, Kyle Owens (Rebecca), Charlotte, SC, Sydney Russell Fleming, Samson, AL, Kayla Owens, Goose Creek, SC, Charli Adams, Samson, AL and Blake Rzoska, Goose Creek, SC.  One brother Roy Gilmore of Monticello, FL, ,7 great-grandchilden, a special nephew that’s more like a brother, Roger Williams of Samson, AL and a number of special nieces and nephews.
