ABBEVILLE. . .Jerry Wayne Garrett, a resident of Abbeville, died Thursday afternoon, October 30, 2014, at his home. He was 67.

            Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 1, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Doug MacCormack officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland.

            Jerry Garrett was born and reared in Shelby County, Alabama. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.  Jerry lived in Headland before moving to Abbeville six years ago. He was formerly self-employed as the owner and operator of Garrett’s Automotive in Headland. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Lee Russell Garrett, his mother, Rhoda McDonald Garrett Taylor, a daughter, Tammy Lynn Garrett, a sister, Betty Byrd, and two brothers, Charles Garrett, and Lee Russell Garrett, Jr.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Cindy Larimore Garrett, Abbeville; three daughters, Barbara Brannon (Bobby), Dothan; April Long, Navarre, FL; and Vicky Lynn Bull (Tony), Abbeville; three sons, Jimmy Garrett (Kim), Slocomb; Jerry Wayne Garrett, Jr. (Angel), Jacksonville, FL; and Craig Garrett (Nicky), South Carolina; four sisters, Callie Fennell, Dothan; Eleanor Mae Thompson (Johnny), Headland; Rhonda Faye Burgess, Cottonwood; and Peggy Ruth Benton, Dothan; a sister-in-law, Tonya Garrett McLain, Blackwood Community; two brothers, Jimmy Garrett (Louise), Abbeville; and Harvey Garrett (Lucy), Dothan; numerous grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; his step-children, Marie Wilkerson (Alvin), Rebecca Sessions (David), and Frank Garrett, Abbeville.
