Joann Bynum, age 79 of Enterprise, AL passed away April 4, 2014 at Flowers Hospital, following an extended illness.

The much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was born June 26, 1934 in Geneva County to Pearl Bostic Bynum and Lloyd Bynum. She is preceded in death by sisters, Nova Jean Bynum, Bernice Motley and Peggy Deal, as well as brothers Jack Bynum, Junior Bynum and Larry Bynum.

Ms. Bynum retired from Amalgamated Textile and Clothing Workers Union.  She was an active and faithful member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Enterprise, AL., where she was a part of the Sunday School class “The Encouragers”. She enjoyed many great times at Mt. Pleasant Senior Citizens as well as being active in a monthly card playing group for 10 plus years.

Ms. Bynum is survived by two daughters; Diane Hirtriter (Mike), Dallas, TX and Starla Outlaw (Neil) Hartford, AL; six grandchildren, Lyn Buckland (Brad) Frisco, TX, Jay Paul, Dothan, AL, Charla Cerveny (Billy), Nashville, TN, Nikki Paul, Hartford, AL, Shayne Outlaw, Mobile, AL, and Ashton Outlaw, Headland, AL; four great-grandchildren; Jacob and Rachel Buckland and Emmy and Wiley Cerveny. Sisters, Nell Adkins, Betty Hudson, Mavis Lolley and Mazie Newsom, all reside in Enterprise, AL.

Visitation will be held at Sorrells Funeral Home, Enterprise, AL, Tuesday, April 8, 5 pm- 7 pm.  Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 9, 10:00 am at Hillcrest Baptist Church, with Billy Cerveny officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Enterprise directing.
