Joann Patterson, 78, a resident of Dothan, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at her home.

Funeral services will be held 10 am Friday, April 18, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Philip Harrelson, Rev. Stan Davidson and Rev. Michael Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 pm until 8 pm Thursday

Mrs. Patterson was born June 20, 1935 in Camden, Tennessee and she lived the early years of her life in the western part of Tennessee. She resided in Dothan since 1967 and was employed with GoldCo for twenty years as a bookkeeper and also served as secretary of United Pentecostal Church for forty-seven years. Mrs. Patterson was a member of United Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Fairy Jewel McClure.

Survivors include her husband Rev. Joe Patterson; her son, Michael (Jill) Patterson; her daughters, Teresa (Philip) Harrelson and Gigi Forrest; seven grandchildren, Kay (Stephen) Cureton, Justin (Alyssa) Harrelson, Daniel Patterson, Angela Forrest, Nathan Harrelson, Lauren Harrelson and Clay Forrest; her sister, Demetris (Danny) Davis; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William (Joann) Patterson and Judy Johnson; several nieces and nephews. Serving as active pallbearers will be David Goodwin, Michael Whatley, Chad Kirkland, Charlie Joyner, John Cureton, Bert Pittman, Chris Aton and Mark Harrelson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Patterson’s grandsons.
