MONTGOMERY. . .JoAnn Shiver Clark, a resident of Montgomery, died Friday night, January 9, 2015, in the Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. She was 79.   

            Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 12, 2015, in the First Baptist Church of Abbeville with Pastor Wade Rials and Reverend Ryan Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the home of Sam and Debbie Vann in Dothan. The family will also receive friends from 10:00 until 10:30 A.M. Monday in the fellowship hall of the First Baptist Church.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Thorington Road Baptist Church, 450 Ray Thorington Road, Montgomery, AL 36117 or to a favorite charity.

            Mrs. Clark was born and reared in Tuskegee, Alabama and was a 1953 graduate of Tuskegee High School. She also attended Troy University. Mrs. Clark was an active member of the Thorington Road Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Howard (Bill) Clark, and her mother, Annie Fred Davis.

            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Debbie Clark Vann and husband, Sam Vann, III, Dothan; a son, Mike Clark, Montgomery; two grandchildren, Reese Vann (Kim), Dothan; Brannon Vann (Abby), Nashville, TN; two great-grandchildren, Asher Vann and Piper Vann; brothers-in-law, Alex B. Clark (Ina), and James R. (Bobby) Clark (Rita), all of Abbeville; an aunt, Hilda Taylor, Montgomery; several cousins, and a special friend, Patty Petrey, Montgomery.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Dickie Clark, Jimmy Clark, Dr. Charles Conner, and Will Clark.

            The family would like to express their appreciation to Susie Dreyton for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Clark during her illness.
