JOE  EDWARD  GOUGE


WEBB, ALABAMA. . .Joe Edward Winfield Gouge, a resident of Webb, died early Friday evening, March 28, 2014, in a Dothan hospital. He was 53.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 31, 2014, in the Mt Ararat Baptist Church with Reverend Hugh D. Kirkland, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday in the church sanctuary.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Dawn Deese, 3393 Hunter Road, Webb, AL 36376.


            Mr. Gouge was born in Hickory, North Carolina and moved to Dothan with his family as a child. He had lived in Webb since 1990. Mr. Gouge was a graduate of Dothan High School and attended Wallace Community College and Troy University. He was self-employed as a maintenance contractor. Mr. Gouge was affiliated with the Mt. Ararat Baptist Church.


            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Kristina Taylor (Daniel), Cowarts; a son, Clay Gouge, Webb; his parents, Joe and Shirley Gouge, Webb; a sister, Doni Pitcher (Michael), Madrid; a grandson, Dustyn Taylor; a special friend, Beth Blakely, Bonaire, GA.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Clay Gouge, WilliamWard, Gordon Ward, Rob Wallace, Daniel Taylor, and Michael Pitcher. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jeffrey Couch, Clarence Brown, Dee Smith, and Lynn Farmer.
