Barney Joe Glass, 76, a lifetime resident of Early County, passed away January 20, 2015 at his residence. Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 23, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Blakely, GA with Rev. Keith Alderman and Mr. Wayne Tankersley officiating. Burial will follow in the Blakely Cemetery.

Mr. Glass was born in Blakely, GA, April 28, 1938 to the late Robert E. Glass and Ellene Driver Glass. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a retired co-owner of Glass Brothers Farm. He was a member of Magnolia Lodge #86, Blakely Chapter #282 Order of the Eastern Star, Hasan Temple of Albany, served on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Limousin Association, member of the Georgia Cattleman’s association and served in the National Guard.

Mr. Glass is survived by his wife Ellen Brownlee Glass; a son Jody Glass and wife Dana of Blakely and a daughter Glynis Glass McIntyre and husband Todd of LaQuinta, CA; 2 sisters: Mary Anne Glass Beasley and husband Larry of Orlando, FL, and Margie Glass Hicks of Cowarts, AL; 4 brothers: Billy Glass and wife Martha Ann of Blakely, Ray Glass and wife Vivian of Thomasville, GA, Earl Glass of Darlington, SC and Eddie Glass of Headland, AL; 5 Grandchildren: Christian McIntyre and Makenna McIntyre of LaQuinta, CA, and Jay Glass, Wade Glass and Libby Glass of Blakely.

The family will receive friends at the Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home, 21802 Lucille Rd., Blakely, GA, on Thursday night from 6-8 PM, and on Friday, between 12:30-1:30 PM, in the Social Hall of First Baptist Church of Blakely.

Pallbearers are Robby Glass, Bobby Glass, Chas Bridges, Brad Waller, Ted Waller, Michael Hicks, Emory Brownlee, Jr., and Joel Glass.

Honorary Pallbearers are Bobby Youngblood, Roger Hall, Johnny Allen, Brad Tankersley, Ed Harper, Mike Whitehead, Ed Gilbert, Tom Baxley, Ken Payton, Curtis Smith, Wayne Middleton, Tim Malsburger, Effie Bowman, David Still, Cannon Moseley, Tyner Cooper, Kevin Glass, Steve Singletary, Mike Kelly and John D. Sparrow.

Flowers will be accepted but if desired, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Blakely, PO Box 667, Blakely, GA 39823.
