ELLIJAY, GEORGIA. . .Joe Ronald (Ronnie) Knowles, a resident of Ellijay, Georgia, died early Friday evening, December 25, 2015, in the Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, Georgia. He was 71.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 28, 2015, in the Worship Center of the First Baptist Church of Headland with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Haleburg Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday in the fellowship hall of the First Baptist Church.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family for expenses c/o Vicki Knowles Beddingfield, 357 Shady Creek Trail, Williamson, GA 30292.

            Mr. Knowles was born and reared in Headland, Alabama and was a 1962 graduate of Headland High School where he was an athlete and excelled in football. He also received a B. S. Degree in Wildlife Biology from Auburn University. Mr. Knowles and his wife owned and operated Daystar Designs in Ellijay, where he designed and built custom furniture and accent pieces.  In earlier years, he was employed by U. S. Civil Service as a Wildlife Biologist. Mr. Knowles formerly lived in Niceville, Florida where he was active as a Deacon and Teacher in the Living Waters Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Hurley Knowles, and a sister, Nona Knowles Solomon.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Diane Pelham Knowles, Ellijay, GA; three daughters, Kathi Knowles Lenski (Ted), Annapolis, MD; Vicki Knowles Beddingfield (Bucky), Williamson, GA; and Kelli Knowles, Long Beach, CA; his mother, Ida Deal McGee Knowles, Headland; two grandchildren, Josephine Grace Lenski and Zachary Turner Beddingfield; a brother-in-law, John W. Solomon, Headland.
