ABBEVILLE. . .Joel Edward Money, Sr., a resident of Abbeville, died early Wednesday morning, January 20, 2016, at his home. He was 64.

            Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday, January 21, 2016, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Gerald Ross and Reverend Brandon Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to S.H.A.R.K., P.O. Box 126, Abbeville, Alabama 36310 or to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.

            Joel Money was born in Ft. Gaines, Georgia and was reared in Henry County, son of the George Edward Money and Louise Smith Money. He was a member of the Judson Baptist Church. Joel was self-employed as the owner and operator of Money’s Small Engines. He was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Spann.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Faye Helton Money; two daughters, Heather Money Key (Jason), Baker Hill; Kristie Hughes (Joey), Abbeville; three sons, Joel E. Money, Jr (Dana), Abbeville; David A. Money (Tanya), Dothan; and Tim Palmer (Audrey), Abbeville; a brother, George Allen Money (Sheila), Abbeville; a sister-in-law, Karen Spann Garrett; grandchildren, Jonathan Money (Amber), Justin Money (Haley), Nicholas Money, Bentley Money, Ava Money, Dakota Paulk, Logan Paulk, Jonah Hughes, Cortney Palmer, Elizabeth Palmer and Valarie Palmer; a great-granddaughter, Serrina Cruz.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Joey Hughes, Jonah Hughes, David Sauls, Jason Money, Nick Money, and Josh Brooks.
