NEWVILLE…Joel Woodham, a resident of Newville, died Friday, December 16, 2016.  He was 73.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 19, 2016 in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Hosea Parker and Dr. Ricky Plummer officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary.  At other times, the family will be at the home of a son, Mickey Woodham, 509 Cleveland Street, Headland.

            Joel Woodham, son of the late Oley Woodham and Eunice Cox Woodham, was a native of Ashford and 1961 graduate of Ashford High School. He lived in Dothan before moving to Newville in 1988. Mr. Woodham was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Ardilla. He was retired from Emerald Coast RV Sales after thirty-six years employment. Mr. Woodham was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Casey and a sister-in-law, Janice Woodham. He loved NASCAR and was an avid Alabama football fan.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Kathy Spivey Woodham; a daughter, Nickey Guenther (Jason), Tallahassee, FL; two sons, Ricky Woodham (Elaine), Newville; and Mickey Woodham (Gail), Headland; a sister, Carolyn Pittman, Dothan; a brother, Mac Woodham, Dothan; eleven grandchildren, Chris Woodham (Hannah), Jessica Woodham (Brett), Braden Walker, Jeremy Woodham (Ashley), Justin Woodham (Leslie), Patrick Guenther, Bridget Nicole Spencer (Josh), John Preston Eckert (Chrissy), Jeffery Robinson, Marshall Miller, and Jennifer Robinson; nine great-grandchildren, including Mallory Woodham; three brothers-in-law, Allen Spivey, Bobby Casey and Randall Pittman.

           Serving as active pallbearers will be Chief Mark Jones, Jimmy Steege, Brett Woodham, Larry Beasley, Jimmy Singleton, and Jimmy Jones. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be "Papa" John Farish and Ken Woodham.
