John Curtis Walden, 83, of Enterprise, went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 22, 2015.


Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Level Plains with Reverend Sam Tate, Reverend Tim Bradley, and Reverend Mike Foreman officiating.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.


Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Level Plains, Building Fund, or the Wiregrass Gideons (PO Box 403, Daleville, AL 36322).


Mr. Walden was born on October 8, 1931.  He served ten years in the U.S. Air Force (1951 – 1961).  He retired from NIH as a Computer Analyst in 1979 and was very active in his church and the Gideon ministry.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Bessie Walden, one sister, two sisters-in-law, and an infant son.


Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Millie Walden; 3 brothers: Kenneth, Rex, and Hobson Walden; a sister, Ann Nunn; 3 children: Marty Walden (Elaine) of Level Plains, Gail Bradley (Mike) of Level Plains, and Renee Tristan (Mimo) of Wicksburg; 7 grandchildren: John, Brian, and Michael Walden, Tim Bradley (Kayla), Kevin Bradley, Austin Cameron, Leah Stamaris and a great-grandchild, Lauren Stamaris.
