John Richard Walker, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015 at his residence. He was 89.


Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Monday, August 10, 2015 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2pm on Monday.


Mr. Walker was born August 29, 1925 in Columbus, GA and lived the early years of his life there. He moved to Slocomb in the late 1930’s. Mr. Walker joined the US Navy and served 4 years and would later join the US Air Force and serve one year. He returned to Columbus and worked with Columbus Iron Works for 7 years. Mr. Walker moved to Graceville, FL in 1943 and owned and operated Walker Refrigeration until he retired in 2002. He was a Mason and a member of the Shriners Club in Columbus, GA and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Graceville, FL.


Survivors include his wife, Ann Walker, Dothan; his 2 sons, Richard Walker and John L. Walker; his grandson, John Murray Walker; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ned and Ruth Forshee; and his sister-in-law, Jean Forshee.
