HEADLAND. . .John T. Ard, a resident of Headland, died early Friday morning, June 10, 2016, at his home. He was 71.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 12, 2016, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Ricky Plummer officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.


            John T. Ard was born and reared in Napier Field and lived in Dothan before moving to Headland in 1986. He was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Headland and attended Bethel Baptist Church in Dothan. Mr. Ard was the owner & operator of John T. Ard Plumbing & Electric Service in Headland. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Eunice Ard.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Carolyn Starling Ard; two daughters, Teresa Peterson (Charles), Headland; and Nikki Cureton (Chris), Newville; two sons, Ken Ard (Nicole), Gulf Shores, AL; and Joe Ard (Kelli), Ashford; nine grandchildren, Chase Peterson (Beth), Mackenzie Peterson, Courtney Cureton, Cooper Cureton, Caden Cureton, Katie Ard, Kendal Ard, Kirby Ard, and K.J. Ard; a great-grandson, Timothy Peterson.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Tommy Starling, Corey Starling, James McCord, Stephen McCord, Tony Luker and Justin Luker. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Steve Love, George Fleming, Jason Fleming and Mike Gunter.
