John Wade Pybus, Jr., a resident of Chipola Nursing Pavillion, Marianna, FL, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, December 22, 2012. He was 86.


Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Calvary Baptist Church, Cottonwood, AL, with Reverend Karl Hudson. The Eulogy will be given by Reverend Donna Sue Roberts, the niece of Mr. Pybus, and Reverend Gene Gainous. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


The family will be receiving friends at the church from 1 to 2 P.M. Wednesday, December 26, 2012, one hour prior to the service. The family request  the omission of food. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, Cottonwood, AL; or Covenant Hospice, Dothan, or Marianna.


John was born in Headland, November 10, 1926. He was the son of the late Elva Lee Hodges Pybus and John Wade Pybus, Sr. He was a lifelong resident of Headland until his retirement in 1990. Upon retirement, he and his wife, Bernice moved to their farm outside Cottonwood. John and Bernice celebrated 67 years of marriage on August 8, 2012. He was a Pet Supply salesman for Hartz-Mountain and retired after 28 years. John was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and a Deacon Emeritus. John was also a World War II veteran.


Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Bernice Odom Pybus, a resident of Chipola Nursing Pavillion, daughter, Judy P. Deal (Lloyd); son, Jerry H.Pybus, Fredricksburg, VA; son, Johnny M. Pybus (Martha), Midland City; granddaughters, Jennifer Foshee (Jason); Leigh Pybus; Avery Deal (Josh Jones); grandson, Addison Wade Deal; great-grandson, Mathison Foshee; great-grandsons by love: Jeremiah and John Payton Jones, and his beloved and faithful lap buddy, Rufus.


Active pallbearers will be Deacons of Calvary: Earl Sellers, Charles Earl Exum, Boyd Childree, Michael Greenwood, Billy Hatcher, Robert Effurd, and Jack McGee.Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacon’s wives.


The family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Mark Dean, Dr. Michael O’ Brien, Dr. Darius Aliabadi and their staff, and Tracy Mears, CRNP.The family would like to also extend a special thanks and love to the outstanding and loving staff of Covenant Hospice, Dothan and Marianna; Chipola Nursing Pavillion, (they are angels walking among us), and to the outstanding and loving staff of Covenant Hospice, Dothan; Donna McGee, Sara McKee, Cynthia Longgrear, and Carla Sammons, and to Covenant Hospice, Marianna, Shonda Jones, Tommy, Connie and Anna.
