Mr. John William Jones of Enterprise passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Medical Center Enterprise.  He was 78.

 

Graveside funeral services with full military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 26, 2015 in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery on Highway 29 in Perry County, Alabama, with Reverend Kerry Mitchell officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

 

Mr. Jones was born July 16, 1936 in Sprott, Alabama.  He faithfully served his country, retiring from the United States Army as a CW4 after 26 years.  He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

 

Preceding him in death were his parents, John William Jones and Ruth Ellard Jones; his wife, Sadie Crocker Jones; and his son, Henry O’Neal Jones.

 

Survivors include his wife, Gail C. Jones of Enterprise, AL; 2 sons: James William Jones (Terri) of Prattville, AL and Matthew Bradley Jones (Sara) of Tuscaloosa, AL; 2 daughters: Lisa Dianne Brown (Shayne) of Troy, AL and Erica Jones Massey (Jay) of Fort Riley, KS; sister, Alayne J. Smith (L.C.) of Lawrenceville, GA; brother, Jerry O. Jones (Tammie) of Keller, TX; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.
