Johnny Douglas Lewis, 70, died Monday, April 1, 2013, at his home in Level Plains after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.


          Funeral services are at 3 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Level Plains with the Rev. Mike Foreman and Rev. Tim Gann officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 2 p.m. just prior to the service.


          Mr. Lewis was born April 19, 1942, at home in Victoria, AL. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather who enjoyed camping and the Smoky Mountains. He served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to1968 as a Minuteman missile technician, retired from the Air National Guard after serving from 1976 to 1991, and retired from Civil Service after dedicating 40 years from 1960 to 2000.


          He was preceded in death by his parents Johnie Green and Leola Lewis, Victoria, AL; son Bryan; and nephew Richie Prosser.


          Survivors include his wife of 50 years Martha Eileen Lewis, Level Plains, AL; son, Russell (Kim) Lewis; sister Martha Jene (Johnny) White, Victoria, AL; brother James (Barbara) Lewis, Midville, GA; grandchildren, Dylan Lewis; Madison Lewis; Mitchell Mock; and Meredith Mock; and nephew and nieces Eddie Prosser; Betsy White; Calvin Lewis;  Madelon Vann; Karen Bowmar; Joyce Wiebe; and David Coker, Jr.


          In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the First Baptist Church of Level Plains Building Fund, 8189 County Road 1, Enterprise, AL 36330.
