SHORTERVILLE. .  ,Johnny Ray Sauls, a resident of Shorterville, died early Sunday evening, September 25, 2016, in a Dothan hospital. He was 57.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 28, 2016, in the Old Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Matthew Quincey and Reverend Ron Hendrickson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in the church sanctuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Safe Haven Animal Rescue & Kennels (S.H.A.R.K.), P.O. Box 126, Abbeville, AL 36310.


            Johnny Ray Sauls was born and reared in Germany, son of the late Jerry Young Sauls and Hildegard Abel Sauls. He was a graduate of Stuttgart-American High School in Stuttgart, Germany. Johnny was a member of the Old Zion Baptist Church. He was employed by the Lilly Company in Dothan as a Fork Lift Mechanic. Johnny was formerly employed by WestPoint Stevens in Abbeville for twenty years.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Angie Starling Sauls; a son, John Christopher Sauls, Daleville; two brothers, Randy Sauls (Jody), Benson, Minnesota; and Erwin Sauls (Brenda), Shorterville; three step-sisters; a special aunt, Robin Sauls Parson; uncles Lamar Buxton, David Sauls (Mary Lou), and Bobby Sauls (Sarah), sisters-in-law, Kathy Gilley (Randy), and Brenda Sauls (Erwin); his father-in-law, Rayford Starling; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
