Mr. Joseph Riley “J. R.” Deese, age 71, of Dothan passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in Dothan.

 

Born September 20, 1943 in Cottonwood to the late Julius Jackson and Evea Lockstead Deese, J. R. was a farmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Deese, Curtis Deese, and Buddy Deese.

 

Survivors include his daughters, Sheila Sanders and Denise Jones; his sons, Billy Deese, Timothy (Lucy) Deese, John (Rhonda) Deese, Randy (Linda) Deese; his step-son, John (Tara) Weatherly; his sister, Katie Sanders;  nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nephew Wayne Sanders and his wife Linda, great-niece Linda Marie Adkins,  and other relatives and friends.

 

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 18, 2014 at New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend John Smith officiating and Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM, Friday, July 18, 2014 at the funeral home.

 

The family will be accepting flowers.
