ABBEVILLE…Joyce Kirkland Shelley, a resident of Abbeville, died Friday morning, November 13, 2015, in the Wesley Manor Retirement Center in Dothan. She was 86.

            Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 17, 2015, in the Oakey Grove Baptist Cemetery, near Abbeville, with Chaplain Eddie Biss officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside service.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, Alabama 36302.

            Mrs. Shelley was born and reared in Henry County, daughter of the late Alvie Luke Kirkland and Wildie Mims Kirkland. She formerly lived in Headland before moving to Abbeville in 1965. Mrs. Shelley was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, in Abbeville. She enjoyed crafting, dancing and Alabama football.  Mrs. Shelley was preceded in death by her husband, Joe H. Shelley, a sister, Wilma Bullard, two brothers, Elloitte Kirkland and Donald Kirkland, two nieces, Olivia Holloway and Diane Massey, and a nephew, Michael Bullard.

            Surviving relatives include a daughter, Sheryl Shelley Teal, Dothan; a son, Rodney Shelley, Abbeville; a grandson, Mikeal Teal, Dothan; a sister, Martha Sue Massey, Fayetteville, NC, a brother, Ben Harold Kirkland (Ruth Mary), Darlington, SC; sisters-in-law, Mickie Kirkland, Jackson, GA; Jenelle Jackson, Bakersville, CA; Sue Lunsford, Columbus, GA; brothers-in-law, Mark Shelley, Abbeville; Mallie Shelley (Betty), Huntsville, AL and Billy A. Shelley (Bobbie), Headland; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Sandra Arnold, Headland; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
