Funeral services for Julia Ann Brooks Mills, aged 87, of Westville, Florida will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, February 24, 2017 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home with Brother Drew Kriser officiating. Burial will follow in the Poplar Head Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, beginning at 11:00 a.m. and continue until service time.

Mrs. Mills died February 20, 2017 in Panama City, FL. She is survived by two sons, Franklin O. Mills (Lisa) of Anniston, Alabama, and Michael G. Mills of Westville, Florida; two granddaughters, Suzan Mills Gage (Bill) of Chipley, Florida, and Kathy Leavins Tate (Calvin) of Bonifay, Florida; one grandson, Jared T. Mills of Denver, Colorado; she is survived by seven great-grandchildren, numerous dear nieces and nephews around the United States, and several special cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Harry Mills (retired Air Force); daughter,  Anna Marie Mills Leavins; her parents, George and Dora Brooks Chrysler; brother, Franklin D. Brooks.

Mrs. Mills was the great-granddaughter of Rev. Middleton Brooks, first Baptist missionary appointed by the Judson Association in the southern area of Alabama in 1856. Mrs. Mills could trace her genealogy back beyond the Mayflower Pilgrims, to the earliest people of England and Wales as well as the Creek Indian Nation. Mrs. Mills was active in church throughout her life and recorded volumes of active service to the Lord no matter where she lived around the world.
