June Morris Hawkins

 

June Morris Hawkins, a resident of Taylor, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, January 17, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her family.

 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 20, 2013, at Rehobeth Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Free and Rev. Keith Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main directing. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Byrd Funeral Home. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Rehobeth Baptist Church Building Fund, 4444 S. County Rd. 59, Rehobeth, AL 36301.

 

Mrs. Hawkins was born April 27, 1927 in East Liverpool, Ohio and spent the early part of her life there. She then moved to Michigan and resided there for 30 years. In 1979 Mrs. Hawkins moved to the Dothan area. She was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Hawkins in 1991; her sisters, Grace, Ruth, Polly, and Florence; and her brother, Don.

 

Mrs. Hawkins is survived by her daughter, Judith Layow of Taylor; grandchildren, Kathryn Johnson (Greg) of Taylor, Floyd Layow (Lisa) of Howell, MI, Donald Layow (Traci) of Wixom, MI; great-grandchildren, David Johnson (Diana) of Wahaiwa, HI, Kaye Johnson and Jamie Johnson  of Chattanooga, TN, Justus, Skye, and Aris Maher of Howell, MI, Cody, Shae, and Gary Layow of Wixom, MI, and Kimi and Logan Rybak of Wixom, MI; one great-great grandson, Colton Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
