Kathleen Strickland Grimes passed away Saturday, August 23, 2014 in Anniston, Alabama.  She was 85 years of age.


Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on  Tuesday, August 25, 2014 from Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Dr. Roland Brown officiating  and  Ray Lloyd  ministering in music.  Burial will follow at Post Oak Baptist Church Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:30am until the time of the service.


Mrs. Grimes was born June 3, 1929 in Dale County, Alabama to Murphree and Ethel Gunter Strickland.  She retired from Phillips Van Heusen and from World Book Encyclopedia.  Mrs. Grimes enjoyed gardening, working in her flower beds, cooking and going to yard sales and loved Elvis and the Gaither’s Gospel Music.  Over the years she has donated numerous stuffed animals to nursing homes and rescue squads for children.  She loved God above all and has witnessed to many during her lifetime.


In addition to her parents, Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Grimes; her son, Rex Grimes; her grandson, Morgan Watson; her sister, Maurine Bell; and her brothers, Dewitt Strickland, Aaron Strickland, Hanson Strickland and Marcus Strickland.


She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Grimes Watson (Cliff) of Anniston; her grandchildren, Benjamin Watson (Sara) of Clanton, Spencer Watson of Huntsville; her great-granddaughters, Caroline Watson and Charli-Claire Watson of Clanton; her brother, Luther Strickland (Bertha Lee) of Ozark.


Serving as pallbearers will be Joey Parish, Wade Strickland, Wes Strickland, Bryan Gavins, Brad Gavins and Keith Watson.


The family would like to extend a special thank you to Alacare Hospice in Anniston, Dr. Onyekwere, Dr. Aremu, Diann and Ed Hamilton, Reba Yarbrough, Michael Bennett and a very special caregiver, Tiffany Dewberry.
