Kenneth Raybon Butler, age 92, of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Wednesday December 7, 2016 at a local hospital.


Mr. Butler was born July 23, 1924 in Lumberton, North Carolina, the son of the late Rosa Murch Raybon Butler and the late Archie Raeford Butler.


Mr. Butler was a graduate of Lumberton High School. He attended The Citadel but resigned in January 1942 to enter the United States Marine Corps where he served four years during World War Two. He graduated from North Carolina State College in June 1950 with a degree in Civil Engineering and was employed by Goode Construction Corporation of Charlotte, North Carolina for 14 years. In 1964 he formed the firm of Butler & Sidbury, Inc., Builders. He closed this firm in 1988 and retired.


Mr. Butler is survived by his wife, Eugenia Payne Miles Butler; his daughter, Elizabeth Butler Schoenborn of Scottsville, Virginia; four sons, Kenneth Raybon Butler, Jr. of Blackstone, Virginia, Harvey Reynolds Butler of New York City, Bryan Franklin Butler of New York City, Stuart Davis Butler and wife Liz of Anderson, South Carolina. Also two stepdaughters, Susan Randell Miles Linsmier of Moore, South Carolina and Lindsay Ann Miles Davis Kirk of Enterprise, Alabama. Grandchildren, Allison Marie Kinney, Julianna Butler Wolfla and Madeline Butler. Step grandchildren, Christian Butler, Miles and Preston Davis, Sadler Kirk, David, William and Edward Linsmier.


Funeral Services with military honors will be held 2 pm Friday December 9, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home of Dothan, Alabama with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church or charity of your choice.
