KIT  CARSON  CAMPBELL



DOTHAN…Kit Carson Campbell, (Chief Boatswain Mate, Retired, U.S. Coast Guard), a resident of Dothan, died Monday night, April 01, 2013, in a Dothan hospital. He was 68.


            Chief Campbell was a native of Pactolus, North Carolina, son of the late William Campbell and Essie Beddard Campbell. He lived in various locations while serving in the United States Coast Guard and had been a resident of Dothan since 1980. Chief Campbell was retired as the Navy J.R.O.T.C. instructor at Headland High School. He was also retired as a Chief Boatswain Mate from the U.S. Coast Guard and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Since the early 1970’s, Chief Campbell was a 32nd degree Mason in the Jupiter Light Lodge, Jupiter, Florida. After his retirement from Headland High School, he was employed as a supervisor with Collins Signs. Chief Campbell was a mentor to so many and taught us to be a “doer.” He was instrumental in saving thousands of lives through Save-A-Pet and the Wiregrass Spay/Neuter Alliance. Chief Campbell was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Harvey Campbell.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wiregrass Spay/Neuter Alliance Clinic, 570 South Foster Street, Dothan, AL 36301.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Elsie Campbell, Dothan; a daughter, Kimberly Campbell Sullivan and husband, Jonathan, Lake Charles, LA; a son, Christopher Campbell and wife, Sara, Montgomery; a sister, Polly Campbell, a brother, Mark Campbell, both of Little Washington, NC; five granddaughters, Johnna Dominguez, Madison Sullivan, Alex Sullivan, Owen Sullivan, and Campbell Sullivan.
