LaMarr Fuller “George” Conley (SGM USA Ret) died at his home in Enterprise, AL on Saturday, May 5, 2012, from complications of a stroke.


           Friends will be received at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, May 10, 2012.  The family is honoring George’s request for cremation and no public funeral service.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be given to any organization or charity.


           Born April 17, 1932, in Fremont, Ohio, he was the first born child of Charles and Mildred Conley and raised on a farm in Clyde, OH.  He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Patricia and brother, Douglas.


           His military career spanned 27 years and included tours of duty in France, Germany, and Vietnam.  Among his awards and decorations are the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart.  Upon retirement from military service he served 10 years in civil service at Fort Rucker, AL.


           He is survived by Marjorie, his wife of 52 years; sons, LaMarr C. Conley (Stephanie) Colorado Springs, CO; Sean A. Conley, Enterprise, AL; daughter, Laura S. Swaim, Enterprise, AL; sister, Betsy Binger, Bellevue, OH; 5 grandchildren, Joshua, Justin, Ian, Rhiannon, and ShaiAnne.
