LaPonda Burton Murphy of Enterprise passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia following injuries received from an automobile accident.  She was 44.

Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Enterprise with Pastor LoEarl Flowers officiating.  Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery (County Road 501 between Elba and New Brockton) with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 1:00 pm and continuing until service time.

LaPonda was born December 27, 1969 in Raleigh, North Carolina to Major Burton and Elnora Watson Burton.  Following high school, she earned her LPN license and was employed with Enterprise Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for a number of years.  She was a member of the New Philadelphia Church of God in Christ.

Survivors include 2 daughters: Jacqueline Murphy and LaVerne Murphy, both of Enterprise; 1 son: James Forte of Enterprise; father and step-mother, Major and Doris Burton of Enterprise; mother, Elnora Watson of Raleigh, NC; 5 sisters: Molly Swasey, Teresa Burton, Jessica Burton, and Felicia Burton, all of Enterprise,  and Latrice Watson of Raleigh, NC; 3 brothers: Patrick Burton and Antonio Boone, both of Raleigh, NC, and Marvin Nanz of Enterprise; 1 grandchild, Addisyn Forte of Enterprise; several nieces and nephews.
