Beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother Laura "Francis" Childree went to be with our Lord on November 1, 2014.  She was 81 years of age.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Post Oak Baptist Church Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing.  Visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday, November 6th at the funeral home.

Francis was born on January 26, 1933 to Jake and Mae Gilley in Daleville, Alabama.  On August 4, 1953 she married the love of her life Omer Childree.  Together they had seven children.  Francis always enjoyed cooking for her loved ones.  She loved just spending time and visiting with family and dear friends.  In the Spring and Summer months she was always working outside in her garden or in a field gathering items to can or freeze for the Winter months.  She loved the outdoors.  If you visited their home the whole family would be found on the front porch shelling, shucking, or preparing vegetables to put up for the coming year.  Her favorite things to do in life were fishing, quilting, canning, and listening to music with her family and friends.  Francis' pride and joy in life was her family.  She was a Christian woman who leaned heavily on the Lord and always prayed for other's safety and wellbeing.

Francis was preceded in death by her husband Omer, her parents, and four siblings (Mini, Helen, Sarah, and Pat) all of who she has now been reunited with in heaven.

Francis is survived by her children, Linda Gootee and husband Gary of Michigan; Faye Hoefle and husband Rick of Ozark; Retha (Patricia) Conrady and husband Don of Oklahoma; Jimmy Childree and wife Tammy of Ozark; Lisa Childree of Oklahoma; Martha Winberry and husband Jeff of Ozark; Mary Cobb and husband Kelly of Ozark; twelve grandchildren, Scott and Amanda of Michigan; Michael, Cindy, Chris, Chad, and Brandon all of Oklahoma; Pam of Florida; and Bobbie, Jimmy Lee, Erika and Nathan all of Alabama; eighteen great grandchildren; two brothers Billy and Max of Alabama; one sister Katherine of Alabama; and many other relatives and friends.  She will be missed dearly, heaven has gained another angel to watch over all of those who she loved so dearly while here on earth!

Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark (334) 774-4551 is in charge of the arrangements.  Condolences may be offered at www.fuquabankston.com.
