Mr. Lavon Carter of Samson passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015. He was 76. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2015 in the Chapel of Pittman Funeral Home of Samson. Burial will follow in the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Samson directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.

Mr. Carter was born in Coffee County, AL on June 29, 1938 to the late John Hill and Estelle Floyd Carter. He worked in the Carter family logging business for many years. Mr. Lavon had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Vera Carter Jennings; four brothers, Winfred, Hulon, Carlton, and Olan Carter.

He is survived by one brother, Louie Carter of Samson, and several nieces and nephews.
