CAPPS COMMUNITY…Leland D. Trammell, a resident of the Capps Community of Henry County, died Tuesday morning, March 25, 2014, in a Dothan hospital. He was 79.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 29, 2014, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Lyle Peluso officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery- East. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at the mortuary in Abbeville.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, Virginia 22312 or to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL 36303, in honor of Sonya Snow.


            Mr. Trammell was born and reared in Henry County, near Abbeville, son of the late George Marvin Trammell and Mattie Burke Trammell. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1971 with the rank of PO1/E-6 after twenty years service. He served his country in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retirement from the military, Mr. Trammell was self-employed as a welder. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Bostick Trammell, a daughter, Linda Strickland, a grandson, Jason Carl Trammell, and a brother, Kenneth Trammell.


            Surviving relatives include a son, Tony Trammell (Deborah Hardy Trammell), Midland City; three brothers, Gerald Trammell (Carolyn), Shorterville; Tommy Trammell (Martha), Dothan; and Joe Trammell (Betty), Ocean Springs, MS; four grandchildren, April Trammell (Will Wall), Shannon Trammell (Jonathan Whitehurst), Sharon Bowling (Mixon) and Michael Strickland; 6 great-grandchildren, Jacen Trammell, Toni Trammell, Jayce Whitehurst, Jaden Britton, Justice Bowling, and Presley Bowling.
