LOLA  MAE  McCALLISTER



COTTONWOOD. . .Lola Mae Hall McCallister, a resident of Cottonwood, died Friday afternoon, February 1, 2013, at her home. She was 91.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, February 4, 2013, in the Union Hill Baptist Church, near Cottonwood, with Reverend Craig Samples and Reverend Kyle Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday in the church sanctuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Union Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 7335 County Road 33, Cottonwood, AL 36320.


            Mrs. McCallister was born and reared near Cottonwood, daughter of the late James B. Hall and Mittie Green Hatton Hall. She formerly lived in Dothan before returning to Cottonwood in 1964. She was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church and was formerly employed by the Wesley Manor Retirement Center in Dothan. Mrs. McCallister was preceded in death by her husband, Russell D. McCallister, a son, Danny Rex McCallister, two sisters, Verna Mae Hall Adams and Odessa Hall Snell and three brothers, Clyde Hall, Woodrow Hall and J.B. Hall.


            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Linda M. Brothers (Jim), Lawrenceville, GA; and Sheila M. Garrett (C.T.), Cottonwood; two sons, Bill McCallister (Cookie), Virginia Beach, VA; and Bob McCallister (Faye), Jackson, AL; a dear sister, Lula Hall Outlaw, Foley, AL; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Hall, Dothan; and Dorothy Womack, Ashford; a brother-in-law, Howard McCallister (Ruth), Dothan; nine grandchildren, Leigh McCallister, Gene McCallister (Carolyn), Kerry M. Reid (Chad), Amanda B. Samples (Craig), Kellie Brothers, Hilliary Brothers, Jae Brothers (Stacey), Stacey Garrett Busbee (Robert), and Michael Garrett (LeighAnna); nine great-grandchildren, Elisha, Elisabeth, T.J., CarolLynn and Esther Samples, Bryant McCants, Kate and Ellie McCallister and Anna Grace Garrett; several nieces and nephews.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Michael Garrett, Jae Brothers, Chad Reid, Eddy Hardy, Greg Dean, Gene McCallister, Mark Coskrey, Jacob Offutt, and William Cleveland.


            The family would like to express their appreciation to Covenant Hospice, including Cynthia, Judy and Lynn and also a special thank you to Crystal Laney for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. McCallister during her illness.
