Lomona Lois Clark Cherry

“Mona” Cherry, aged 71, a resident of Oakview Manor, Ozark, was born January, 12, 1945, in Atlanta, Georgia.  She departed this world April 5, 2016 winning her battle against Alzheimer’s, she stepped into the Land of Glory and joined her Lord and Savior.

She spent the majority of her professional career enjoying her Waffle House customers, of whom many, became her family.  She loved to serve and truly had a servant’s heart.

Mona’s favorite past time was reading, mostly scripture, but of varied interests and topics.  She loved cross-stitching.  The birth announcements of her grandchildren, that she poured love into each stitch, will be a treasure that will be kept close to our hearts.

She was a simplistic woman that enjoyed nature and walking on trails and finding unusual stones and arrowheads that she passed on to her daughter and grandson.

Her most valued treasure was her very underlined, dog-eared and spine falling apart, well used Bible.  She started every morning with her Bible study and her many cups of coffee.

Never meeting a stranger, she never shied away from spreading the Good News and telling others of the wondrous things that the Lord had done for her.

Left to honor her memory are her children: Son- Joseph (Randy) Cherry (Betty) of Newton, AL; Daughter- Talli Sizemore (Chuck) of Newton, AL; Son- Steven Crunkilton of Atlanta, GA.  Grandchildren: Matthew Pentecost, Arlington, TX; Amber Sizemore of Dothan, AL; Thad Mitchell, Laiken Mitchell, Sabrey Sizemore all of Newton, AL; Kayla Bullock and Rashad Bullock of Henderson, NC. Her Siblings: Richard Clark (Diane) of Trion, GA; Jimmy Clark (Kat) of Trion, GA; Deborah Bates (deceased- Jerry), Jacksonville, FL; Dorothy Lewis (Hallie); Alicia Reid (Rick) of Dothan, AL. She also leaves to honor her memory many nieces and nephews and many adopted ‘grandchildren’.

Special to her heart is her life-long best friend Angel Drennen, who selflessly helped care for her in her last few weeks on this earth.  She also leaves behind her precious pet, Tootie, of whom brought her many years of joy, comfort and companionship.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Peggy Clark; an infant son- Jeffrey Crunkilton; Sister- Ronnie Wilson; and Brother- Joe Clark.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of Lomona Cherry. (Alz.org) or Tributes questions tel: 1.800.272.3900
