Lorane Powell Wright of Samson passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2015. She was 84. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Elbert Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 26, 2015, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Wright was born in Coffee County on May 1, 1931, to the late Clifford Oliver Powell and Mary Bowdoin Powell. She worked many years in the telecommunication industry. After her retirement, Mrs. Wright was a volunteer with Senior Friends in Enterprise. She enjoyed bowling and travelling the world. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Wright Bowdin; and ten of her siblings, Agnes P. Miofas, Rudolf Douglas Powell, Coy Powell, Rex Orville Powell, Aline Powell, Sam Bradley Powell, Lillian P. Weir, Lydia P. Lewis, Oma P. Carter, Joy Elmer “Scoot” Powell.

She is survived by two sons, Forrest Wright (Charlotte) and Benjamin Wright (Gail); five grandchildren, Sandy Morris, Cristie Stephenson, Nicholas Wright, Hannah Moore and Holly Ramsey, all of Samson; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Roland Powell (Patsy) of Elba; two sisters, Jo Ann P. Hollinghead (Johnny) of Opp and Nancy P. Dukes of Samson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
