            Mr. Louie L. Powell of Enterprise, AL, and formerly of Gadsden, AL, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Medical Center Enterprise.  He was 96.

            Funeral services will be at 10 am Friday, April 5, 2013 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Steve Bruce officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 9 until 10 am.  Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, AL/FL Panhandle, 225 N. Michigan Ave. FL17, Chicago, IL 60601.

            Mr. Powell was born September 5, 1916 in Dale County, AL to the late Thomas William and Ada Lou Hughes Powell.  He was a veteran of World War II and a graduate of the University of Alabama.  He retired with 30 years of service with Internal Revenue Service.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Powell was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Joe Mack Powell, Sr. and Fred T. Powell and his wife Sara.

            Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Irene Wilson Powell; 1 sister-in-law, Sudie Powell, Enterprise; nieces and nephews: Joey Powell (Lisa), Enterprise, Gayle P. Stoutamire (Scott), Panama City, FL, Stephen A. Powell, Enterprise, Mencie Walden, Clayhatchee, AL, Tommy Powell, Clayhatchee, Eddie Powell (Tammy), Troy, AL, Beth Sievers (Walter), Montgomery, AL, Frances Park (Warren), Niceville, FL, Eileen Cook (David), Pace, FL; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
