 Louise Guilford Laye, a resident of Headland, died Thursday night, October 8, 2015, in a Dothan hospital. She was 84.


            Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, October 11, 2015, in Gardens of Memory with Reverend Charles W. Price, Jr. officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:45 until 3:45 PM Sunday at the mortuary.


            Memorial contributions may be made to the Headland United Methodist Church Building Fund, 103 West King Street, Headland, AL 36345.


            Mrs. Laye was born and reared in Hartford, daughter of the late Samuel Johnson Guilford and Mary Louise Carter Guilford. She moved to Headland in 1952 where she was an active member of the Headland United Methodist Church. Mrs. Laye was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Clark, and two brothers, Frank Guilford and Sam Guilford.


            Surviving relatives include her husband, Herbert Wayne Laye; a daughter, Melissa Laye Stewart (Anthony), Dothan; two sons, Ronnie Laye (Lisa), Dothan; and Doug Laye, Destin, FL; two sisters, Martha Hatcher, Tallahassee, FL; and Charlotte MacDonald, Mobile, AL; and a sister-in-law, Lottie Guilford, Abbeville, SC; three grandchildren, Ron Laye, Ranah Dozier, and Hannah Stewart; seven great-grandchildren, Anniston Laye, Griffin Laye, Owen Laye, Addison Laye, Ansley Kate Drummond, Jay Dozier, and Mary Knox Dozier.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be John W. Solomon, Benton Beasley, Ron Laye, Bobby Boone, Ronnie Laye, Doug Laye and Anthony Stewart.
